It is about a 17 year old girl named Mizuki Ashiya. Mizuki has been living in America and going to school there. (Her father is a 'gaijin' American who married a Japanese woman) She has an older brother who looks very 'gaijin' with light hair and eyes. Anyway, she is on her school's track team and has a best friend named Julia. One day after watching a high jump competition on TV (a video?), Mizuki becomes interested in one of the competitors, a guy her own age named Izumi Sano, a talented athlete from Japan.
Mizuki decides right then and there that she wants to be Sano's friend. Poor Mizuki longs to meet Sano for three whole years before she finally manages to get back to Japan. The thing is, he goes to an all-boys school. This does not deter Mizuki though! She gets Julia to cut her hair for her, gets herself a boys school uniform, travels to Japan, and enrolls in Sano's school. Wow, now that is dedication for ya! Right away Mizuki encounters the guy she was looking for. She first meets Sano when she runs into class late and bumps in to him in the hallway. She leaves her book bag behind in her haste, and he returns it to her in class. Yes, Sano is in Mizuki's class! This causes her no end of happiness, though Sano wonders why the new 'guy' in his class is smiling at him so much. Things get even better for Mizuki. Not only is Sano in her class, she manages to get Sano as a roommate in the boys dorm too! WOW! Now they can be great friends! However actually living together begins to add some tension to their relationship. Mizuki finds herself caring about Sano as more than a 'friend' and Sano finds himself attracted to his roomate. Things are difficult for Mizuki, who must guard her feelings for Sano and hide her true gender from everyone. The situation is not any easier for Sano, whose feelings for Mizuki become very strong as well. Watching him cope with his emotions is one of my favorite parts of the story.

Mizuki is the heroine of the story. Before the story began, she lived in America, and looked pretty much like your average girl- cute, dressed like a girl, and had long hair. Then one day she saw a video of a high-jumping competition and she saw her first glimpse of Izumi Sano. She was so impressed by him that she was willing to have her long hair cut off and to travel to Japan to meet him. Mizuki is still cute with short hair, and is cheerful, and somewhat naive. While Sano begins to have feelings for her right away, it takes much longer for Mizuki to start having feelings for Sano, and even when she does, she is slow to figure out what those feelings mean. Sano is not the first guy she has liked though. In America she had a crush on another boy back when she was only 13. His name was Gilbert. Sano Izumi Height: 180cm ( ft in) - Birthday: December 24th
- Age: 17
- Blood Type: O
- Favorite Movies: Star Trek, Bladerunner
- Favorite Brand: Nike
- Favorite Sport: High Jump

Sano is the reason behind Mizuki's return to Japan. He becomes her roommate in the boys dorm and he quickly begins to develop feelings for her, even though everyone believes she is a guy. As for what Sano believes? Well, that would be spoiling things! Sano is very strong and athletic and is easily the best high jumper at the school. Outside of class he is somewhat quiet, and can be seen brooding a lot. However he cares for Mizuki very much and always tries to protect his roommate from harm when he can. Sano has a younger brother with whom he does not get along very well. Nakatsu Shuichi Height: 180.5cm ( ft in) - Birthday: August 20

- His hair is bleached.
I love Nakatsu, he is so much fun! He seems to be the main comic-relief of the series, and has become one of my all-time favorite baka-boys. He is loud and impulsive, and can seem like a bit of an idiot, but he means well. Nakatsu is in the same class as Mizuki and Sano, and he lives in the same dorm.Things for poor Nakatsu start to get really confusing when he finds himself totally had over heels infatuated with Mizuki. Even though he thinks she is a guy, Nakatsu can't help how he feels. Often during the series we will get glimpses of 'Nakatsu-vision,' seeing Mizuki the way Nakatsu does- very soft and beautiful. Nakatsu has a bit of an identity crisis when he falls for Mizuki. When faced with an actual GIRL who likes him, he can't decide if he should continue pining for Mizuki, or date the 'real' girl! Nanba Minami Height: 182cm ( ft in) - Birthday: June 5

One of my favorite characters! (then again, I like just about everyone :) Nanba-senpai is an upperclassman at Ohsaka Academy, and is one of the dorm/class leaders. He is very handsome, and knows it. He is very flirtatious, and likes to hit on any girls he sees. I like how he tried to win over Mizuki's friend Julia. Ahh such a Playboy! Nanba-senpai likes to tease people, but he is very nice to Mizuki. Despite his outgoing, flirtations attitude, he can be serious at times, and can actually get melancholy when thinking about a past relationship that meant a lot to him. He has occasionally leaned on Mizuki for comfort. Family-wise, Nanba is the nephew of the school doctor, Umeda-sensei, and Umeda's sister Rio is his aunt. Umeda Hokuto Height: 184cm ( ft in) - Birthday: October 31
- Age: 27
- Blood Type: O
- Favorite Movies: Bladerunner, Salome
- Favorite Brand: Helmut Lang
- Favorite Music: T99, Prodigy, D.O.A., Enigma
- Image Flower: Anthurium
The school doctor, Umeda-sensei, is another fantastic character. He finds out right away about Mizuki's secret, and soon becomes the one she runs to when she is in trouble and needs help. He gives Mizuki advice and generally hangs around being very cool. He has a younger sister named Rio who is a student at the neighboring girl's school, and an older sister named Io who he is somewhat afraid of :) (She is very... domineering :). He is also the uncle of Nanba-senpai. Umeda-sensei is quite the playboy. He works at an all-boys school, and it certainly looks like he takes advantage of that fact. Every time Mizuki enters his office, she finds him in some really suggestive 'yaoi'-type position with one of the cute male student. It's so funny to see what he will be up to next! Hara Akiha Height: 191cm ( ft in) - Birthday: November 29
- Age: 25
- Blood Type: B
- Favorite Brand: Youji Yamato
- Favorite Sport: Beach Volleyball
- Favorite Movies: 101 Dalmations, Barbarella
- Image Flower:Flaming (?)
Yay! Another really great character! Akiha is a year younger than Umeda-sensei, and was one grade lower than Umeda back in school, and thus calls Umeda 'senpai'. Akiha is one of the few characters that can make Umeda-sensei freak out. Why? well because Akiha makes it very clear that he LIKES Umeda-sensei a LOT! Very flamboyant, he happily hugs and gets his hands all over Umeda whenever he can! (Much to Umeda's dismay!) His personality is very hyper, happy, and fun! Akiha is a famous photographer who is interested in getting Mizuki to model for him. He ends up getting all the HanaKimi school guys to model for him, making for some GREAT looking photos :) Akiha seems to be a fan of Disney, because he likes the movie 101 Dalmations, and he drives an old Volkswagon Beetle that he calls his 'Love Bug' ^_^ Oscar M. Himejima Birthday: September 9
Oscar M. Himejima (real name: Masao Himejima)is such a hilarious character. He is the leader of the Third Dormitory. He is very flamboyant and fancy and is a total narcicist. He loves himself! This character sparkles so much, he is blinding. He likes to speak random German phrases, and he calls himself 'Oscar' instead of his real name, 'Masao'. His hair is long and dyed, and he wears colored contacts. He loves beautiful things, and is very melodramatic about expressing his feelings. On the drama CDs, his character is voiced by Koyasu Takehito (how fitting!) and his background music is a harpsichord. He is that kind of guy! Manga Volumes Volume 1 The series begins with Mizuki in America having her hair cut by her friend Julia. Mizuki is off to go study in Japan. She is on a mission: to find Izumi Sano and become his friend. She saw him in a sports video and decided she had to meet him. However he goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki must make some cosmetic changes to her appearance, get a boys uniform and enroll in Ohsaka Academy. Once she is there, she not only meets Sano, she becomes his roommate, and meets several of his friends. Things between Mizuki and Sano heat up right away in many small scenes- she finds him sleep on the grass outside and he leans against her, she gets injured during a class soccer game, and Sano carries her to the doctor's office, Sano walks in on Mizuki in the shower, they get in an argument which causes Nakatsu to fight with Sano too, and much more. All throughout the volume Sano is close to Mizuki, and already he is beginning to have feelings for her! The school doctor discovers Mizuki's secret and becomes the one she runs to when she needs help.
Volume 2 Mizuki is getting pretty good at maintaining her disguise as a boy while living with Sano. She gets to watch Sano practice his high jump but has an angry confrontation with one of his rivals. Too much alcohol causes Sano to get a bit too friendly with Mizuki! EEk! Then thing get even more interesting- Shizuki, Mizuki's older half-brother arrives, and he doesn't know about Mizuki's charade! His arrival almost threatens to bring Mizuki's masquerade days to an end! She must try to convince her brother that what she is doing is okay, and to leave her there and not tell everyone, especially Sano, what she is up to! Meanwhile, Sano has a big competition coming up, and he is spending all his time at the track training for the high jump. Mizuki does her best to cheer him on!
Volume 3 After a tough round of tests, it is finally summer vacation! But this poses a bit of a problem for Mizuki, as everyone is leaving the dorm for the summer, She needs a place to go. After a great ..er.. bed encounter with Sano (!), Mizuki and the gang end up heading for the beach to work at a beachfront restaurant as a sort of.. favor for Umeda-sensei. The summer job proves to be interesting as Sano's feelings for Mizuki intensify amidst some competition when another guy (his name is Makita-kun) at the restaurant takes an interest in Mizuki as well! The arrival of Sano's highjump rival causes some frction and humorous situations, but there is one very scary event that happens when Makita goes a bit too far in his interest in Mizuki. The tension between Sano and Makia is great! Mizuki's secret is discovered by someone else, yet she manages to stay a student at Ohsaka Academy!
Volume 4 Summer vacation is over, and everyone is back at the dorms. But there is excitement in the air because it is now time for some school competitions! The classes are divided up into teams to participate in various events like a obstacle course, 500 meter relay, etc. Nanba-senpai is in charge of the group Mizuki is in, and he is all fired up to win! Everyone is extremely psyched up to win all their events! It looks like Nanba-senpai's fighting spirit and excitment may be covering up some feelings of sadness about something. Meanwhile, Nanba-senpai's main competition is a guy named Kujou, who seems to have some sinister things in mind. The part of the competition that everyone is talking about the most is the cosplay! Yes, a group of the guys from Mizuki's dorm will be running a coffee shop, and must dress as girls and act as waitresses! Ahh such fun! Mizuki's group has a theme for their costumes, and the results are adorable! Nakatsu in drag is priceless :) A guy named HIMEJIMA Masao is introduced in this volume. He's a very flamboyant upperclassman who likes to speak in German (he throws some French in there too) and calls Mizuki 'Kitten') ^_^ We also get a nice look into Nanba-senpai's past! There is a non HanaKimi story at the end of this volume about a romance between a girl named Miho and a mysterious boy named Yue.
Volume 5 The class competition continues in this volume, and the boys are still in their cute female waitress costumes. Mizuki looks really cute with long hair! In this volume, Oh no! Nanba's rival in the class competition has Mizuki kidnapped! Sano and the others rush to try to rescue her! Sano is quite fierce indeed! Later on, Mizuki gets a postcard in the mail, and her thoughts are on it's sender, a bot named Gilbert. Back in America, he was the first guy she liked. She spent some time with him when she was 13. This is a nice background story for Mizuki! Back in the present, Mizuki watches Sano practice the high jump. Believe it or not, this results in a rather intimate moment between Sano and Mizuki! Much blushing here! Unfortunately, Nakatsu witnesses the scene, and gets really depressed! He really likes Mizuki (even though he is still in a bit of denial because Mizuki is a 'boy'). All he can think about is Mizuki until one day he is surprised with a love letter from a GIRL! Her name is Komari-chan. Her arrival throws Nakatsu into an even greater state of confusion. Should he date the new girl or stick with his affection for Mizuki? After all, Komari-chan is a GIRL, and she is pretty cute... Then one evening while studying with Mizuki, Nakatsu sees that she has fallen asleep! He stares at Mizuki, at her lips.. and slowly leans in closer to kiss them...
Volume 6 Nakatsu's infatuation with Mizuki grows, but he decides to date Komari-chan anyway. Meanwhile, a reporter is sneaking around trying to take revealing pictures of everyone. Mizuki is now taking karate lessons (presumably to learn how to defend herself from attacks like the ones she has faced before). Even though he is dating Komari-chan, Nakatsu still likes Mizuki, and he struggles to contain his feelings. Finally he makes a decision as to who he likes more- Mizuki or Komari-chan, and ends a relationship. There is a background story for Nanba-senpai. It begins with him purchasing a bouquet of flowers to send to someone in congratulations for her wedding. Then we learn that the girl who is getting married is Nanba-senpai's first love from several years ago. She had been his tutor in more than just schoolwork ^_^; She had been his first love, and his first heartbreak ;_;. Returning to the main story, the romantic tension between Mizuki and Sano continues to grow, but everything is turned upside down by the arrival of Mizuki's best friend from America, Julia! Julia is a force to be reconed with. She can ignore Nanba's playboy advances, and fight with Nakatsu, yelling just as loudly! (watching her and Nakatsu together is rather funny, as he reacts to her like she is poison ivy :)
Volume 7 Mizuki's friend Julia has arrived, and is making waves with her 'revelation' that she is Mizuki's 'girlfriend'! Poor Nakatsu doesn't take this well :) Meanwhile, Sano's relationship with his younger brother Shin is revealed to be less than friendly. Julia has enrolled in the neighboring girls school. She hangs around Mizuki a lot and observes her relationship with Sano, then becomes suspicious as to exactly how much about Mizuki he knows! The boys all goes on a school field trip, and of course run into the girls at a hot springs. Late at night both Mizuki and Sano decide to indulge in the hot baths, and have a close encounter! Julia proves herself to be extremely good at fending off Nanba-senpai's playboy advances! :) Sano has a run-in with his brother while on the school trip, and Mizuki learns about their relationship. The usual romantic tension is still present between the two of them (they blush a lot, and look generally adorable when around each other :)
Volume 8 (no summary srry!)

| Full Moon wo Sagashite / Searching for the Moon
this anime is somewhat similar to Love Hina from the fact that involves a promise but it's under different cirumstances.
2002 \ 52 episodes \ 7 volumes of Manga Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Comedy, Shoujo Licensed and Volume 1of the anime is set for June 27.
Twelve-year-old Kouyama Mitsuki was devastated when she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor of the throat. She had made a promise to the boy she loves that she would one day become a singer, but her illness made singing impossible. To make matters even worse, two angels of death, Takuto and Meroko, appeared to Mitsuki and informed her that she only had one year left to live. This news provides an even greater motivation for Mitsuki to fulfill her dreams, and with a little bit of divine intervention, she begins her quest to become a professional singer so she can be reunited with Eichi before time runs out.
Although...
From the synopsis above, this show would sound like a sad, depressing, morbid show. However, if you actually watch the show, you will find that it's exactly the opposite. On the surface FULL MOON might first appear as a cute and typical shoujo story of a young girl overcoming obstacles and finding romance while pursuing a goal, but there is a serious and often heart wrenching drama that lies beneath.
Misuki/ Full Moon

Mitsuki is a 12 year old girl who dreams of becoming a singer and reuniting with her lost love, Eichi-kun. Tragically, she suffers from throat cancer which threatens both dreams. She is an excellent singer.
Full Moon is the stage name of Mitsuki Koyama in her 16 year old form. Story behind that : she doesn't look old enough to be a singer, so she makes a deal with one of the shinigami, Takuto, to transform her into a 16-year-old body who goes by the stage name of Full Moon in order to achieve her dream of becoming a singer. Unlike Mitsuki, Full Moon does not have throat cancer, and therefore, can sing and so she auditioned for "Seed Records"
BTW Mitsuki's name means 'full moon' in Japanese.
Eichi-kun
The boy that Mitsuki likes. He's very kind and he and Mitsuki have grown very close towards each other when the were in orphanage. At that time, they both promised to follow their dreams: his to become an astronomer and hers to become a singer. But one day, he had to leave to America! *4 years older than Mitsuki; 16 yrs old when Mitsuki is 12
Meoroko & Takuto (Shinigami)

Shinigamis are death gods; who collect souls. They work together and the duo call themselves "Negi Ramen" (onion ra-men) lol
Meroko

She is a shinigami, assigned to Mitsuki with Takuto. Meroko is very bold and brash, but seems to have her duty as firmly in mind as her attachment to Takuto. She is openly jealous of any behaviors of Takuto's that may indicate that he likes someone else, or of any behavior by anyone else [Mitsuki in particular] that exhibits any attachment to him. When faced with a tough situation, Meroko tends to panic. *She has the ability to turn into a bunny plushie! Kawaii
Takuto

Takuto is a Shinigami is Meroko's partner; he is less experienced as a shinigami than Meroko. *he has the ability to turn into a cat plushie! Kawaii
Wakaouji-sensei

Wakaouji is Mitsuki's doctor. He cares very deeply for Mitsuki, and often fills in as an older brother / father figure when she needs someone. Though Wakaouji tries to allow Mitsuki some freedoms that her grandmother won't, his primary concern is for her health.

Volume 5 is coming out April 4, 2006

Verdict/Review on Anime
Review A: At first I was a little skeptical about this series. The storyline didn't sound to convincing and I never in my right mind thought that they could make a half decent series based on singing. And after watching the opening of the first episode it made me want to not watch the rest of the series even more. My first impression after watching the opening was like, this seems like a really kiddy anime. Although after watching the first 10 episodes I was hooked.
The music was definatly the strong point of this anime. I thought that without the music this anime just wouldn't have been the same. Then again the story is about a singer so I guess that good music is a given. However there is also a down side to the music. It get very repetative. I'm not sure if they ran out of funding or they were just way to lazy to compose new songs or what but after hearing the same song for background music, dramatic moments and the ending theme it really gets on your nerves.
Review B: The start of this anime is very slow. Though the dark premise of a young girl with a time limit put on her life is set in the very first episode, during the first half of the series Mitsuki's largest problems are pre-concert anxieties and popstar rivals. Although the first episodes may even be described as tedious, and even border on useless, the series soon picks itself up as these episodes become loads of lighthearted fun. The appropriate and well-paced character development and blossoming relationships that occur during these episodes leave a lasting effect that is essential to the rest of the series.
However, just as this series begins to lose its focus and return to the way in which it came, an episode is appropriately put in where viewers are reminded of the dark premise. The fact that so many episodes of fun passed before this part of the series increases the excellent impact of the harsh reminder and consequentially drags the viewers closer into the lives and actions of the characters.
Overall, this series was excellent. The fun, lightheartedness in the beginning of the series sets the stage for the dramatic twist that will leave jaws hanging and viewers on the edge of their seats waiting for the next unexpected turn. The characters are very strong and easy to get attached to, particularly the intensely sweet and realistic relationship between Mitsuki and the shinigami.
Full Moon wo Sagashite is an anime that is able to grasp the hearts of viewers with just the right amount of pressure. So grab your kleenex boxes, minna-san. You're in for quite the emotional ride.
Review C: At first glance, Full Moon wo Sagashite is deceiving. A show about a 12-year-old girl who magically gets turned into a 16-year-old singer? In addition, she has two Shinigami dressed up as a bunny and a cat who follow her around. What’s so special about that? Despite the premise, the series actually runs a much deeper and emotional road. Based on the manga of the same title, Full Moon wo Sagashite’s 52 episodes do not disappoint. Though the series starts off a bit slow, focusing mainly on Mitsuki’s growing success as Full Moon, it picks up a good deal of steam in the later episodes.
With its bright colors, happy intros, and incredibly cute characters, Full Moon wo Sagashite proves that you really can’t "judge a book by its cover." Trying to place your finger on why Full Moon wo Sagashite seems to stand out amongst all the other titles in its "genre" is difficult. Presenting itself like an after school special, the show faces the reality that Mitsuki is going to die, rather than try and sugarcoat the fact that Mitsuki may die. Despite this, knowing her fate is sealed, Mitsuki remains optimistic and full of life. She still tries her best to live the remaining year of her life the best she can. With this concept alone, the plot is rather dreary, but the series manages to balance enough happy moments in with the severely depressing ones to not push the viewer away. Each episode is introduced by Meroko with a brief recap of the previous episodes.
Mitsuki, Takuto, and Meroko make up one of the best group of characters in an anime series in a long time. Mitsuki is an optimistic twelve-year-old going on sixteen--literally, Meroko is a playboy bunny with a heart of gold, and her partner, Takuto, is your typical brooding bishie. Nothing to write home about at first, but the chemistry among the three is amazing. This chemistry is aided by the well-executed voice acting. Jpop singer, Myco, makes her voice acting debut as a believable, 12-year-old Mitsuki. Not only is she Mitsuki’s speaking voice, Myco also provides the singing voice for Full Moon. Takuto’s dreamy voice is performed by Yasuo Saitou and rounding out the trio is the talented Chieko Honda as Meroko. Together they create a great group of characters that the viewer can completely relate to. One of the nice things about the characters is that they actually mature throughout the extent of the series. Far too many series have static characters that are the same from beginning to end. Without this strong character development and willingness to poke fun at itself, Full Moon wo Sagashite would probably drown after about five episodes in its own emotional soup.
Artistically speaking, Full Moon wo Sagashite doesn’t have anything too spectacular to point out. Character design is pretty generic, but appealing.
Yes, Full Moon wo Sagashite is an angsty show, but it’s an angsty show fit for a broad audience. Whether you’re 13 or 25, you’ll probably enjoy some aspect of this show.
Review/Verdict on Manga
Review A: Now in almost all cases that translates into the anime falling short of the manga expectations, but not this time. The manga, what can I say, is completely different then the anime, and not for the better. I viewed the entire anime series, and then went to read the manga in hopes of seeing more of a great story. Instead, I found a strange dark series that I couldn't enjoy at all.
The differences between Full Moon's anime and manga is like day and night - day being the anime, and night being the manga because it is much more dark and depressing. I was disappointed to see the manga version of Mitsuki being such a whiny brat, and that ultimately ruined the manga experience. Not to mention the artwork in the manga. The characters were drawn great, but for some reason things didn't feel "right" to me. The pages seemed too cramped at times, but this also might be because of the fast storytelling. Characters go from one point to another with very brief transitions, and it becomes rather confusing. This might not be the author's intention; perhaps it was because of deadlines and page limitations. The manga spans only 7 volumes, and it doesn't use a "normal" chapter-to-volume ratio. There are only 4-5 chapters per volume, which cramps up the story. The bottom line is that the story is simply too rushed in the manga.
The entire story, and even characters are different when comparing the anime and manga. The anime series is much better because of the slower pacing of the story which allows for more character development. For those who read the manga and didn't enjoy it, I recommend watching the anime because it will definitely change your mind about the series.
Review B: This book is wonderful because, even though it seems like a mushy love story at moments, the story is very realistic, and has a lot of humor in it. Also, since I love music, it's fun to read the lyrics Tanemura writes for Mitsuki to sing. The art is really lovely, but Mitsuki's eyes are a little bit too large for her face. I think this series is mainly for ages eleven and up because there are some jokes and scenes that won't really make any sense to younger readers, and there is some use of bad language in the book.
It is excellent being what it set out to be, which is a shoujo manga shoujo readers will love. Full moon speeds along breezily, letting readers see what they want; things unfold rather quickly, which can be a little overwhelming.
The illustrations are beautiful. Of course, every shoujo book should have some gorgeous bishies and Full moon certainly does. The main, character,MIstuki, is breathtaking and usually in pretty, creatively designed clothes.
All in all... Full moon is firmly grounded in shoujo roots. It boggles my mind, being practically terrified of that genre. But it is very good shoujo, mind. However, it bridges no gaps between genres, and those tend to be the best of all series. If you want to go for the pure shoujo of love and sweetness and doggedly cute characterization, Full Moon is your thing.

| Celebrating Two birthdays! Happy birthday to Naru Narusegawa!
March 25, 1981
It seems like Naru is actually the one in charge at Hinata Inn since all the other residents all look up to her and not Keitaro. A troubled family life led her to move into to Hinata Inn. As a 3rd year high school student, she's one of the students in all Japan and took first place in the national prep. examination.Like Keitaro, she too is trying to gain acceptance into Tokyo University with a promise to a person from her past as one of her main motivations. However, because she studies so much, she has become pretty much blind and requires glasses to see anything beyond 5 inches. She's also given up clubs and doesn't have much of a social life because of her studies.
Her relationship with the new manager, Keitaro, is a love/hate one. They both live as neighbors, with Naru living on the floor above separated by a hole in the ceiling/floor. Both Keitaro and Naru refer to each other with "aitsu" which more or less means "that guy/gal." While she thinks Keitaro's mind is somewhat dirty, she can't help having some affection for him. However, this affection is rather painful for Keitaro who has to endure her endless punches.

The female main character of this story. She and Keitaro go to the same cram school. Kitsune and Naru are best friends like sisters. Naru is also trying to get into Tokyo University because of a promise. She fell in love with Seta while he was tutoring her a couple of years ago. Naru is very short tempered and easily launches a punch or two at Keitaro. Despite all the punching, she is actually a nice and understanding girl. She studies hard to get into Toudai. She scored #1 in their cram school on the practice exam. She and Keitaro studied together before the entrance exam and she learned that he is not such a bad person after all. You'll see that the relationship between her and Keitaro grows as the story goes on and on. Later she really loves Keitaro and follows him everywhere, but she has a hard time revealing her true feelings. Naru can get jealous. You can really tell whenever Keitaro and Mutsumi are together.
Narusegawa Naru is studying to get into Tokyo Daigaku (Tokyo University, aka Toudai) to fulfill a dream...and a promise. To get there, and to avoid the distraction of her parent being remarried, she moves to the hot springs resort-turned-girls dormitory Hinata-Sou.
Very beautiful, incredibly smart, and wonderfully sweet, but terribly near-sighted and horrendously short-tempered, she soon encounters the new would-be manager Urashima Keitaro, but she protests the idea of having such a "pervert" being in close contact with her. Though she actually cares for Keitaro a lot, when she isn't sending him flying into stratosphere with her notorious running punches when he accidentally sees more of her than he should.
She often wears thick glasses, sweaters, and braids when going to cram school to deter attention from guys.
Happy birthday to Mutsumi Otohime
March 3, 1978
Mutsumi is a seemingly happy-go-lucky type of girl who is anemic and is prone to collapses. She is first introduced when Keitaro run into her, causing her to collapse into a death-like state (at Tokyo U. in the anime, on the boat in the manga). After a brief panic, she revives and brings relief to Keitaro who thought he had just murdered a girl.
Mutsumi isn't academically inclinde as evidenced by the rank she got in the nationwide exam. She really isn't all that self-conscious about being seen or touched by another person, especially Keitaro (Naru kicks Keitaro's butt everytime for even the smallest infraction), and gives kisses to anyone she's become fond of. She's forgetful at times, and usually doesn't think things through. She is very similar to Keitaro in that they're both clumsy, both love doing the same things (i.e. taking PURIKURAs), and they've both failed the extrance exam the same number of times. However, despite all her flaws, she sometimes shows more emotional maturity than anyone else put together. And just like Keitaro, she also has the determination to make it into Tokyo U. because she too had promised someone in the past that she would attend.
LIKES AND DISLIKES

Mutsumi is a very polite young woman, and she is always very calm when she speaks. However, she is very frail and often faints. She is very smart, but has failed her entrance exams twice, due to unfortunate circumstances. She is the owner of Onsen Tomago (the turtle) and can actually communicate with it. She does not reside in the Hinata Apartments.
-As Naru would say, Mutumi is the female version of Keitaro. They are so similar they often say and do the same things at the same time. -Mutsumi kisses people she likes, and it doesn't have to be people she likes, either. She kisses her friends, men, women, etc. She does it mostly as a sign of friendship or respect.
-She gives Naru her first kiss, but it was not meant to be romantic. She kissed her as a sign of apology and to make her understand that she does not think of Keitaro in a romantic way. -Although Mitsumi is quite intelligent, she is very forgetful and a little airheaded. | | |
| Kaolla Su birthday is coming up January 11, 1985 If you do the math: 2006 - 1985 = 21
Here are some interesting facts about her and pictures as well!
Occupation: Student/ Mad Scientist Hair: long, tied up, light blonde almost white Eyes: Green Height*: 151cm Measurements*: B29.5 W21.6 H32 (as at age 13) INCHES Blood Type: O Likes: Bananas, inventing and almost everything else Dislikes: Being alone
It has been said that there is a thin line between genius and insanity, nobody proves that more than Su. She is an extremely friendly and open person that is exciting to be around as you'll never know what she might do next. Su can be a royal nuisance, as her high levels of energy often result in someone experiencing some severe discomfort, however it's difficult to get mad with someone who is so childlike and innocent. Despite having the exuberance and playfulness of a young child, Su is also a highly accomplished engineer, having created a number of fantastical devices that include: kissing machines, stealthsuits and the ever advancing MechaTamago line.
Kaolla Su is a bundle of pure energy. Hyperactive and clingy, Su is an exchange student from a mysterious foreign country. Although there are a few good clues as to what country this is, no one is really quite sure of the exact country; currency from Su's homeland features an elephant's head with three eyes. Known for possessing an enormous appetite, Su isn't one to ever turn down a meal. Telling Su about a person/place/thing she has never heard of almost always causes her to ask whether it's delicious. Good friends with Shinobu, Su has a tendency to hang all over Keitaro, Motoko and Kitsune, although she doesn't seem to be hiding love interest in Keitaro. Rather, she treats him as if he were her brother, although it is customary to marry one's brother in her country of origin, so we really can't be totally sure with Su.
Su is from an unknown country that seems to be very warlike. Her native country, which seems likely to be in the Pakistan area, has a three eyed elephant as a national symbol, and this three eyed pattern appears on much of Su's inventions and contraptions. Su is a very wild girl who is a technological genius but fairly naive about many things.
Although Su is still in junior high school, she has the ability to turn into older and more mature version of herself. She is only able to conjure up turtle summoning powers when in this form, but her advanced technological abilities make her a dangerous foe no matter what form she is in. She seems to have turtles on the brain, and has invented four generations of Mecha Tama's that usually turn rather evil. Su seems to crave turtle stew, and repeatedly tries to boil Tama.
Su does not have much family, just her biological older sister Amulla Su and her adopted older brother Crown Prince Ramba Ru. She has been expected to marry Ramba for a long time, and it is one of the reasons that she fled to Japan. The constant pressure for her to grow up was what caused her transformations. She thinks of Ramba as her big brother and knew that her sister Amulla was in love with Ramba, so she refuses to marry him until Ramba decides to marry Amulla.
Su is always in the middle of whatever adventures that occur, and usually she is partially at fault for them. Her creations cause many mishaps and battles, and her explorative nature gets her and Sara in trouble more than once. Su never really cares if things get out of hand and has fun in any situation.
